COALITION FOR COLLEGE MANIFESTO
Coalition For College helps make college a reality for all students through MyCoalition, their set of free, online college-planning tools that helps students learn about, prepare for, and apply to college. Coalition for College member schools are united in their mission to support lower-income, under-resourced, and/or first-generation students; to provide responsible financial aid; and to bolster students’ success in college—and beyond.
It was my privilege to help spread the message through this video. :D I tackled all the designs (from conceptualization, to storyboards, styleframes and asset preparation for animation.) and directed the animation for this piece in Black Math.

We approached this video in a hand-illustrated style that is friendly and imperfect, because everything else about preparing for college can feel so overwhelming. Bold colors were used to keep the tone youthful and fun and abstracted forms with unique patterns and textures were used to emphasize the variety in schools and choices available and exploring how those align with each person's individual preferences.
PROCESS
Color Story, Storyboard Character Poses and Asset sheets for animator.
After we decided on the abstract and hand-drawn illustrative direction, I did quick storyboard thumbnails to rough out some ideas based on the script. Then I created a color story to divide out different sections of the animation, making sure to feature the client's brand colors prominently once the tool was introduced, while also expanding the palette to bring in a more youthful vibe.
LOGO REFRESH + EXPLORATION
The goal was to do a logo refresh that felt more modern for a younger target audience, but also not stray too far from the client's existing idea of layered "C"s.
